Got myself a replacement drop-in K&N air filter for Cherise.  And this is pretty much what I saw when I compared the two.

Brand new K&N intake filter vs ~25k miles on OEM intake filter.

I’ve changed out the filter, which was surprisingly easy, even without removing the clamp that holds the intake hose to the box, as I just wiggled the whole intake box until it came apart.  I even cleaned up all the nasty gunk that was inside.  I felt no difference in acceleration or MPG use. Perhaps I’ll upgrade to a CAI in a few months/year, after I get the rest of the car situated.

Oh and amazingly, yes, my whole exhaust system is rattling, and I’ve yet the time or resources to figure out how to stop it from rattling.  I believe it’s rattling from the header back, and I may actually have a leak at the catalytic converter somewhere since the pitch changes at 3k RPMs and it becomes so high and so loud that it actually gives me a headache.  It’s like an aftermarket exhaust droning, but worse since it’s not an aftermarket exhaust.   The exhaust rattling is so bad at the back end of the car that it sounds like the boot has bowling balls just free rolling around on a cold start.  Suggestions, comments?

I never posted this picture because The Woman says I am looking like a ‘hardass’ for no reason and that I need to smile more in my pictures (she obviously hasn’t seen my drunken facebook pictures), but anyhoo, this was when I lopped off all my hair about four weeks ago.

While it’s easy to do my hair in a fauxhawk with the lack of hair, it’s been too hot and I’m scared my hair will melt — okay, maybe not so much my hair as it is my hair products. And yeah, I’ve been jocking the fauxhawk for a few years now, and maybe it’s time to try something different.  With a little convincing from The Woman, I decided to grow my hair out just a little bit, about 2-3 inches, and see where that goes because I honestly have no idea what I want to do with it at the moment.
